The Slack integration lets your team interact with your Tiny Talk agent directly in Slack — via DMs or @mentions. The agent can be trained on any content (internal knowledge bases, product documentation, HR policies, etc.) and responds using the same AI model and knowledge base as your web widget. Since it works through Slack, your team gets instant answers on desktop and mobile.

Setup

  1. Go to Integrations → Hub → Slack in your dashboard
  2. Click Connect Slack
  3. Authorize Tiny Talk in your Slack workspace
  4. Once connected, the agent will be available in your workspace
After connecting, click Manage to configure how the agent behaves in Slack.

Settings

The Manage dialog lets you control how your agent responds in Slack:
SettingDescription
Direct messagesRespond when someone sends a direct message to the agent
Channel mentionsRespond when someone @mentions the agent in a channel
Thread repliesContinue responding in threads the agent has already participated in, without needing an @mention
Reply in threadsSend responses as thread replies instead of posting directly in the channel
Enable Reply in threads to keep channels clean — the agent’s responses will appear in threads rather than cluttering the main channel.

How it works

  • The agent responds to direct messages and @mentions (depending on your settings)
  • If Thread replies is enabled, the agent continues participating in threads it’s already joined
  • The agent uses the same AI model, system prompt, and knowledge base as configured in the dashboard
  • If Help Desk is enabled, Slack conversations appear in the inbox alongside web and WhatsApp conversations. Replying to Slack conversations from the Help Desk is not currently supported — the Help Desk view is read-only for Slack messages.

Use cases

  • Company knowledge on tap — Employees DM the agent to get instant answers about company policies, benefits, or internal processes
  • Developer documentation — Developers @mention the agent in a channel to quickly look up internal APIs, architecture decisions, or runbooks
  • HR and onboarding — New hires ask the agent about onboarding steps, tools, and company information from day one
  • Project-specific Q&A — Add an agent to a project channel so team members can look up relevant specs and documentation without context-switching

Disconnecting

To disconnect Slack, click Disconnect on the Slack card in Integrations → Hub. This removes Tiny Talk from your Slack workspace.
